wooperman, I think you are just treating the Juno in a wrong way. What you thought of as a "patch" is in fact a "performance". So you are switching sets of 16 layered/split patches, not single patches.
All you need to do is start from a clear performance, and assign the patches you want to the part 1 to 16. Then, you can switch between these parts from the mixer, using the cursor buttons. Or, you can do it from the sequencer too, since the parts are automatically tied to the tracks: in this case, switch between the parts using the up and down cursor buttons.
