pedal switch with D beam ?

hi there, is it possible to simulate pedal switch with D beam - assignable one ? i want than to assign certain function when d beam is activated. or are there limited options when you choose the "source" in patch edit - matrix control ? whole capabilities how to edit patch in real time are strange to me. i mean source - destination chain and board controls (pitch bend, modulation, d beam)
