Fantom-Juno library converter?

Post by marczellm »

There were some posts about a software which converts Fantom X librarian files into JUNO-G format. See here and here for example.

At one of the links Artemiy also mentions that extracting and converting factory patches from an instrument may not be legal.

None of these software can be found online. Are the legal issues the reason for that? I'd like to know if someone has them.

Alternatively, if I could get my hands on a specification of the librarian format, I may try to write a converter program.

Today I also found some patches online that were converted from Fantom patches. This was clear because the waveform numbers were mostly wrong (piano patches only used saw waves etc.) So there must be a converter, although incomplete. I would also try to continue work on it, if I got the source code.

Now I found a converter. It has a database of all the waveform names and by matching those, it can convert between Fantom and Juno libraries.

Hello
Does somebody have this software installed and working? I have virtually no Linux experience, so I don't know when even to start.
There are some good Fantom-X libraries that could possibly be converted to JUNO-G format:

A fellow musician who's fluent in Linux compiled fsex yesterday and converted some Fantom libraries for me.
They are here, free to use
