Time for a new screen?

Got my juno-G back in 2011 and I try to keep up in the forums, particularly about the screen issues. Every year that goes by I wonder if my screen will ever act up. Well, now the display has started intermittent banding from the left side. Sometimes restarting it will help, maybe tapping it in spots, or adjusting the contrast. I talked with Roland out in Ca and have lined up a repair shop in my state that will repair it and get reimbursed from Roland so long as I supply a sales receipt.
For those that have had screen problems, does it start with the banding and lightening in spots intermittently? I don't want to look like a fool and take it into the shop and have them not reproduce the issue.

Mine start with some wrong characters and blank spots.
But since i change to a new one (with new os 2.01) no more problems and it has better clear image.

When my screen died, it just became jumbled where pieces would be out of place. One thing I once heard was that all original Juno-G screens are destined to fail so it's a matter of when not if. Roland has been very cool about this for original owners (considering it was a pretty bad screw up) covering mine over 7 years out of warranty. I'd go ahead and take it in and I imagine they'll just go ahead and replace it without asking many questions as long as you're the original owner.

you're wrong ;), replacing my LCD from roland for the ....third time! was a battle with them! even if they know it's a manufacturing default of the LCD. (now they have built a new LCD but you must pay for it (so pay to solve their manufacturing quality problems). this new LCD requires a firmware upgrade to 2.01 like you.
hopefully my local retailer have done the repair for free but that was not easy....I gave him some chocolates to thanks him :)

That's too bad they are charging your for the LCD screen. Especially now after three times! They definitely should give it to you for free. Here in the U.S they didn't charge for the new improved screen, although I heard of them charging for the previous screens.

Roland sure did bungle this whole screen thing. The Juno-G is a great synth. I finally got around to using the sampling that came with v2.0. Really easy and quick sampling! I have a new Electribe Sampler that could take some hints on how to properly sample. :)

The ORIGINAL supplier of the screen ... flakey (to say the least)
Roland has a NEW supplier (as of last year I think. IF you can prove you are he ORIGINAL owner.. (They really want a receipt... BUT I had registered the product with them when purchased so that was good enough)... YOU pay postage to them (of course get RMA first)... Roland will install new screen for free (and ship it back to you for free.
I coulnd't be happier with Roland..... They admitted it was their fault and went the extra mile to fix it ...
(now if I could only get the manufactures to start adding bluetooth so we could port over to tablets (which I have been suggesting for 10 years now)....

Roland *WILL NOT* replace any new screen if you live in Europe (Italy).
They fool their customers telling the story that there is no issue in LCD screens at all...

Authorized repair centers will charge you big money to solve the issue, with no guarantee that the new display will be the "new fancy model". It's up to the customer discover if he's lucky or not.

I've fixed the issue buying a new LCD from Roland US.
Since Roland US does not ship anything outside US, I had precious help by a friend of mine in North Carolina that received it and managed to send the parcel with USPS!!!

Wow! Have you tried calling Roland US and telling them what you said here so they can talk sense into them? I would escalate this to management. They used a cheap crappy screen originally and need to step up.
