Problem with email notifications - have they been disabled?

Post by comradec »

Has anyone else stopped receiving email notifications of replies to threads in this forum?

I noticed lately that no more notifications were arriving even though I always tick the 'Notify me ...' box when contributing to a discussion thread and most of those threads had continued after my own postings.

Running a search for artemio@rolandclan.info (the notification email address) and other key words in my Gmail archive, I found that no email notifications had arrived from the forum since early March. I've checked my spam folder and they're not in there either.

In case I'd forgotten, I went back and selected 'edit' for some of my previous postings, and made sure the notification box was ticked. I also made sure I clicked on the links provided in the last few notifications I'd received just in case the forum used one of those systems that struck off people who didn't follow up notifications (which I don't think it does anyway).

Has the automated update feature been disabled?

Hmm, I am not sure as it used to work normally, but maybe some settings went wrong after we moved to the new server. Gotta check this!

Well, it's definitely not working for me. And I'm still receiving other emails that I'd expect to get, like from other forums.

Have you run a test to see if you can duplicate the same problem?

I've never had email notifications.

Didn't even know this existed.

How do you tick the which, what, where box???

I just fixed the e-mail address used to send the e-mails from as it did not exist anymore. Now it should work again.

da-man, you probably won't want to do this with all the messages you've posted, but this forum does allow you re-select the notification option on a thread to which you've contributed previously.

Find your original post, click on the edit button, tick the notification box and then re-submit the post without making any other changes.

Thanks for the heads up comradec. I've ticked this box recently on a few posts but it doesn't seem to work.

Well, it's worked for me, although I generally made the edit tick reasonably soon after posting rather than days or weeks later, so maybe there's a time limit.

But people will have to reply to the thread after you tick the box in order for a notification to be sent. It doesn't work retrospectively on replies already posted made or have any effect on threads that don't continue.

no i've ticked the box and still getting no email. I checked my junk mail just in case it was screened. I've checked the email address. I'll tick it again but this is 3rd or 4th time on different posts that have had replies since.
