Redesigned Roland Clan on the way

Post by Artemiy »

Hey all,

just wanted to tell you that I have spent a lot of time during the last year or so thinking what the new redesigned Roland Clan should be. I really think I refined all of the ideas I had the best I could and altogether they will make a great portal for electronic musicians. No time to give all the details, I am spending most of my time glueing all the bits up and you should see everything by the end of June.

When that is done, expect a couple new forum features as well, and of course that new music e-commerce platform that will revolutionize your life :-)

Okay, some very good news here ;-)

All is going well, and the "library" part of the site is almost done. This means we can be online in around one-two weeks.

The "library" will replace our current "archive" design: there will be no more connected sections (gear info, materials, samples, documents) - instead, all will be elegantly placed on a single page. In addition, each model will have quick links to it's forum, and things like software updates and so on.

The icing on the cake is my new development called "gear tags", which will allow to quickly describe each model based on it's features, and in future, to search or compare gear using these tags.

And also, the site will also be available in a compact design, perfect for iPhone and iPod touch.

for personal reference....

Very good news Artemiy!!!

I've been thinking about this for a while, but Diametro's post just reminded me.
It would be nice to have an option that allow us to "mark" a specific post, for future reference. I understand that could involve big database modifs, but would that be possible ? Or is there any simple way to do that?

Cheers..."for BEERS" ;-)

Good idea, Paulo! I will think about implementing it. As I said, I was talking about the website redesign, but the forum will get it's share of love and care after that.

Hey Art,
You need to put up a count down clock so we know when to put the beer in the fridge. Also, I'd like to toast the new site with you, but how do we work this time zone thing?

I was planning to make an introductory video and then put the new site online. But I am too eager and I think I'll just put the site online in a couple hours after the final checks, and maybe announce it later today or tomorrow when the video is ready.

So, this is it. I like a lot the new look of the Roland Clan. Great job Art!

If there are gonna be any additions in the future, I would like to see some quoting options, like post with quote and adding multi-quotes from many posts.
