SP 404 VS.404 EX question...

I'm just wondering what is the difference in sampling capabilities? What exactly does linear mean in this case. Arent they both 16 bit as the original accepts standard WAV files, or am I mistaken.

SP-404 compresses samples, so some quality is lost for the sake of less space in the memory. SP-404SX has linear, non-compressed sampling, so no quality loss, everything should be crystal-clear.
