sp 404 os upgrade problems....mikeacosta please help!

im currently running os version 1.01 on my 404. i just dled the 1.04 os upgrade, and i followed the instructions on the readme file. however, when i put the card in the 404 and turn the machine on, nothing happens. the lights do not blink like the readme says it should, and the screen never displays the "000" like its supposed to. what am i dong wrong?? the .bin file is in the root directory and everything.....im pretty sure i followed all the instructions correctly. help me out please!! thanks

Did you properly format the CF Card first before putting the update on it ?

yes mike, i did. i tried many different things...but none of them worked. all yielded the same result.

if this helps, the memory card im using is a PNY 512mb card. im still clueless! thanks for the response tho! hope we can work this out...

Hmmm try using a Sandisk or Kingston CF Card and see if that works. The update itself works fine.

hey mike..i finally got myself a sandisk CF card, this one specifically from bestbuy:

i followed the same procedure, but I sitll got the same results, and no luck. whats going on here? could it be a problem with my 404? i hope not, my 404's been working flawlessly since the day i bought it

hey mike, i finally figured it out, and thought i should let you know what i found.

it wasnt the fact that my CF card was PNY, and not sandisk, etc. im actually running on a G5 mac, and for watever reason the update didnt work. but when transferring the .bin file to the CF card using my PC, the update worked fine. i dont know what it is about macs that do this...maybe roland can come up with an explanation. the update worked fine when i used both the PNY and the sandisk cards. thanks for your help tho, mike!

Weird , im a mac user myself and havnt had any problems with any of our updaters.
