CompactFlash Cards for SP 404

Post by Levi167 »

Hello all, this is my first post here, so I hope not to sound like too much of a dumb newb (but it's what I be!).

Have just this moment bought the SP 404 (much on the strength of what has been written here - very helpful reviews), and was wondering what CompactFlash cards I should/should not get. The ones that are mentioned on Roland's website don't seem to bring too much joy when doing a Google search on availability within the UK. All I do know is that Roland advices to use the 'Type I', Max: 1Gb, CompactFlash.

Are these any good/or compatible:

Which one/s do you all use?

Cheers for your time.

Hi Levi, welcome aboard and congratulations on getting a SP-404. You will love this little beast, it just plain fun. No complicated menus and operations, just intuition and simply 'doing it'.

I am using Kodak Compact Flash card which I bought on a special in some camera shop. It works absolutely fine for me and I sample all the time - delete, resample, shift etc

Good luck with your little toy.

Just avoid non-branded cards, use brands like Kingston and Sandisk. Also you can carry your SP-404 the shop with batteries in and check if the card you want works ;-)

Cheers, fellas - gonna get a card today, hopefully. Was out last night, so haven't had a chance to fack around with it yet. A right beauty it certainly is, and my first *proper* sampler.

And thanks again for the great advice in earlier posts.

Have a great weekend.

Got the SanDisk Ultra II 1gb... seems to work fine.

Have to say, I absolutely LOVE the 404. Even better than I thought it would be.
