Just thought I'd mention that you can use the mc505 pc editor program with the d2 to program all your sounds and it also adds functions that are not accessible from the d2.

I may have this wrong, but you can change the analogue feel pot from the editor, I think you can't do that from the d2, but you can from the pc editor as I do.

It can do almost anything the mc505 can do if you set up a midi keyboard with pots, like a novation or oxy or whatever you want.

Personally I find the pad great, a little unresponsive some times, it work best if you press with your nail rather than you skin though.

I may take to using a soft tool like a nintendo D.S pen.

OK, I've got it now, thanks! What is this "analogue feel" pot that was mentioned in an above post. I've had this D2 for years and I've never seen it in the manual.

Thats my point, you won't find it in the manual because the d2 doesn't have one.
But it has the same board as the 505 so you can access the 505 functions in the d2.
So the function of the analogue feel parameter is there in the d2 but you will never physically see it as it was not marketed with it.

This is often the case, it is cheaper to put the same internals as more expensive products in cheaper products and just not let the user access it.
This provides more sales for them as they can hit people at a cheaper budget range too.

Basically we all get ripped off all the time. But that is the same as alot of companys, they treat the budget end customers like idiots.

Well it's not surprising that the D2 wasn't marketed with all the surface features of the MC-505...the 505 retailed for much more than the D2, about $1000.00 more in fact, so I don't consider it a ripoff really. The D2 was about $250.00 back when I bought it and it can still be had for about $150.00 on ebay so it's held a lot of it's value.
I haven't started to use the editor yet but I had a few questions about it for you as to how it relates to the D2:
1) When changes are made in the editor how are they saved in the D2?
2)Can you make knob tweaks recorded into a sequencer from the editor? here's a link to to general question about this:
http://forums.rolandclan.info/?action=s ... d=3&page=1
3)When making a setting change in the editor...say raising or lowering a parts' volume...does the D2 settings numbers change as well if I'm in that part of the menu?

Hey Everybody and all my drum droids out there!

What's good?

I have visited the Roland Clan for some time and never noticed the forums, I guess I was too into the info. My bad.

Anyway, I love the D2. My wife got it for me when we were dating back in the day. Is she great or what? Love that girl.

The D2 always makes me smile, what a fun and funky box. Yes, it has it's limits, but for live/performance use, it rules. I thought headphone jams were it, that is until I pumped it through a proper sound system, WOW! Even through my Peavey KB60, it sounds awesome...

Right now, I am wondering, does Roland/anyone/any company out there service the D-pad? Is there a replacement if I completely wear mine out? I hope so.

By the way, I am definitely going to peep that 505 sound editor software, why not? Right? Good looking out.

Well, I'll be around. Be good...

Present!

Odd little things, aren't they? They benefit greatly from a MIDI controller with the old skool MIDI DINs. I don't use it a ton... the preset patterns are a joke for the most part, but then I guess my complaint is that they shoulda had half the presets and more user patch slots.

Thanks for that CC-list!
Is it really true that there's no Pitch Envelope CC control for the D2?
Or Delay settings / Reverb settings?

I'm trying to piece together a full list of CC from this and the MC505 list that I found somewhere else..
