How can I tell which OS is installed on my SP404? What are the upgrades?

same question... I don't know if I need the update... What does the upgrade offer... more features or is it just a bug fix?.. does anybody know? And do I need a compactflash reader for my PC to upload the upgrade?

I have the 404 for over a month but have no clue regarding how to install the update or check the current version, and that is because there are no instructions in English available yet. Even the Japanese download doesn't include any docs.

BTW, perhaps your signature image hypnotizes potential posters. Just a guess.

I found some info on the roland site.

It says to check the ROM version, hold down "mark" when powering on the machine. The version should appear in the display. BTW--I just found this and have not tried it yet. We'll see when I get home. Unfortunately, even if I do find out what version I am running, I have no idea how to actually complete the upgrade... anybody know how?

OK. Well now I know I have version 1.02.

The readme gives system requirements for the update.
And YES, (to answer my own question) you do need a compactflash reader/writer for your PC to make the update.... dammit!
