SP 404 OS update failure, help!!!

Hi there, thought I'd try here for a last attempt at rescuing my SP 404, because i was beginning to really love it. anyway, i tried to update the operating system since i picked it up second hand and it had never been updated. followed the instructions but instead of getting down to 000 it gets to 2 then displays FE7. then when i restart the sampler it either flashes up sp404 ERR repeatedly or comes on with a varying degree of function, but never fully functioning. seems like there has been some kind of internal error and i just wondered if anyone knew what FE7 meant or had any suggestions what i could do? here's hoping! thanks.

i have the same problem but instead it shouts fe6 error and if you turn on without the memory card it simply don't work

so i see that this happen to you in 2007 right?
so what do you do for that ?
