Tone Generator Mc 505 - what is the best way?

Post by AtticaEnumbrea »

Hello,

I currently sequence a slew of gear using a Yamaha Rm1x using a MIDI THRU box. I am using midi channels 1-7 & 10 for drums using the Mc505. (Note: the screen is mostly shot & I don't have the money to fix it at the moment, but have am still getting by).

So far, I found the best way to get the desired drum levels, effects etc. are by saving the patches and the specs as part of a Pattern (ie. User Pattern 1). However, when i want to access new patches with new levels, effects, etc. it would be convenient to send a "Pattern Change" message to just go to a different pattern (ie. User Pattern 2) instead of doing it manually. I've scoured the manual and other forums, and I only see that it's possible to send "Patch Change" not "Pattern Change" messages.

Anybody have any idea how to do this? Or, is there a better way to use the Mc505 as a tone generator than the way I am using it?

Any help would be appreaciated.
