Hello. I am a total newbie regarding MIDI and Cubase. I have a Roland R-70 drum machine. I want to send MIDI from the R-70 to Cubase.
I have gotten the unit to successfully connect via a MIDI to USB converter. I have been able to record drum MIDI tracks. My problem is when I try to record a bass guitar pattern from the R-70. Just bass, not a mix of bass and drums.
The unit does not seem to recognize the pitch or the pitch CHANGES(meaning the different bass guitar notes). I am doing a simple bluesy walk. But all I am getting is A5 notes in the Midi map. High pitched sounds with no pitch chnage.
I assume there is a setting on the R-70 that I am missing? I have used the R-70 to generate MIDI sequences to a Brother PDC-100 sequencer back in the day. So I am unsure what setting I have missed.
Help!
R-70 MIDI problem with CUBASE
Re: R-70 MIDI problem with CUBASE
I got the answer from Roland finally. See this KB article:

So the bass guitar portions of my old drum programming cannot work. But should I choose to do new bass programming with the R-70, I would need to follow the instructions in the article.
