Hi gang-I was given a free roland MC-909 from my local repair shop to see if I could do anything with it. The unit powers on, screen displays, dials, encoder-even D-beam works etc, but there is no output from the unit whatsoever, and the patterns do not play/scroll through.
Apparently the unit suffered water damage-and the owner turned it on to see if it worked-and as you probably guess, something was friend inside. Incase something happened to the software I did a factory reset etc but no change.
Any suggestions or ideas before it is relegated to a paper weight?

Re: MC-909 possible repair?
Run the diagnostic test and see if it identifies the problem:
Press in this order (with the unit on):
Menu
System
F6
Press and hold Shift, and push in sequence: Part 1, 7, 8, 9
Release Shift
Press F5 or F6
I'm no tech, but since parts of the unit are working, maybe you can narrow down the problem and get a limited repair from a Roland authorized service center. These units still sell for $400-500 on ebay, so even if you have to spend some money on a repair, it may be worth it just from an investment standpoint. You could probably get $100 for it now on ebay, AS-IS.
Or, since the D-Beams are working, maybe you could use the unit as a D-Beam controller for other gear...LOL...
