Sample Setting to Play Entire Sample (MPC One Shot)

Post by chrisbeeXL »

Sorry if this is a noob question or if it has already been answered, but I am trying to play a long sample in it's entirety without having to hold the key the whole time, and without it being cut off by the amp envelope. I am running the sample now with the envelope wide open and it still fades it out after a few seconds. I am trying to duplicate the MPC 1000 "one shot" setting so I can layer a long vocal over itself as a run (like row row row your boat)and having no luck. This is the default sample setting in a program on the MPC, so it's strange to me to have to got to such extraordinary lengths to get it done on the MC 909. Is this even possible?

Never mind. I figured it out. It was in the "General" tab in Patch/Sample Edit Mode, "Tone Env Mode" which is set to "SUS" or sustaining by default. I changed it to "NSUS" and now it bypasses the AMP ENV Decay, Sustain, and Release and only responds to Attack now, which is exactly what I was looking for.
