How to connect mc 909 with beatstep pro

I'm really stuck on this one , I want to use the 909 asa drum machine only. I don't know how to connect the two , the midi function on;y connects to channel 1 on the 909 and plays piano etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated and received. Cheers.
