Use MC-909 Sample Editor Win Prog only for 44.1 sample rate Samples

Post by StephenM »

Okey

I have finally a W-30
But I was struggling about improrting these 30Khz Samples correctly into the MC-909

I think the only correct way is to use the MC-909 sample Edit / wav import / temp Dir feature
otherwise I hear clearly aliasing

The MC-909 Sample Editor only works fine with 44.1 samples, otherwise the 30 of 32 Khz samples have aliasing

Here's my user data to compare

Switch between channels 1-6 / 9-15 to compare

Just search for "groovemanager" (2nd hit on google ) and use it to convert the wav files and after that you can easily upload them.

MC909 works with .wav & .aiff at 16bit/44.1kHz only. You can use any audio editor, like Audacity, to export any sample at 16bit/44.1kHz, and drop them straight into the ROLAND/SMPL directory. Otherwise you can drop any type of sample in the TMP/WAV_AIFF directory and the 'Import WAV/AIFF' utility will convert the files to 16/44.1kHz for you. This is all in the manual

Being on newer MacOS, I'm not able to use any of the sample editor or synth editor software. If anyone knows an efficient way to shuffle samples to and from the MC909 while retaining their relative name and 'sample parameters' (ie Loop Mode, Original Key, BPM, Loop Stretch Type, etc), please let us know! Nico and some of the old mc909.org users had a utility to do this, but that was a long time ago and only for Windows XP.
