I have recently acquired an MC909, I have the service manual, and it seems that the way to enter test mode as outlined therein is no longer the correct way for that version of the OS...? When I get to the step where I am supposed to hold shift and then the part buttons 1>7>8>9, nothing happens the screen where the manual shows Test Mode or Service Utility never appears.
At first I thought maybe the shift key or on of the part buttons is bad, but this is not the case, as when I am in other places on the unit, such as the mixer screen, the screen responds to the presses of the part buttons... And I know shift works because if I scroll through parts with the value wheel, holding shift causes the parts to scroll by 10s instead one...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Do the 1,7,8,9 buttons work independently??
