V-Synth XT - Stuck Notes, N.e.e.d...H.e.l.p

Post by nvisibl »

The F# key? Isn' the XT a rack module?

Or just when your playing that note through a MIDI system of sorts?

..please excuse the lack of detail

Yes the XT, and the following midi setup sequencing on Cubase SX3:

Triton Extreme ---> Behringer BCA2000 ---> Steinberg Midex8 ---> V-Synth XT

A reboot of either V-SYnth or PC cures it..though it will eventually return. It also occurs on my Fantom XR too on a frequent basis. No problems with my other synths and modules.

feedback sincerely appreciated

Well it looks like the MIDI note off messages gets stuck on the way. I'd suggest you to use a 1 MIDI in -> 4 MIDI out box instead of MIDI thru - will be more fast and reliable for your setup.

thanks artemio

i'm not sure of my options really if it isn't a config thing, as the midex is practical due to my needing the capacity for my other gear too.

The stuck notes is not such a big problem as it is just a general annoyance, as I have learned to live with it with the Fantom XR...though now with the V-synth playing up too I'm wondering why its occuring only with my Roland kit, thinking that its something I am overlooking.

I also have a Korg Radias, EMU Planet Earth, Supernova 2, Akai Z4 connected to the midex also. Which haven't been powered up recently as just been playin the new v-synth to learn about it.

i don't know how to resolve it ...other than the workaround with reboots

Oh that is too much of gear for a MIDI setup. You should send a couple of those boards to me, then I am sure your hanging note problems will be solved.

I think it may only be resolved if I sent you the Roland kit, as it doesn't occur with any of the other items. Strange.

Thanks, and by the way, I plan adding 5-6 new articles in the next few weeks.

i know this is ancient, but in case anyone is looking to resolve the same problem, i had it and found a solution (well, in my own personal situation). In my case, the stuck note was a D4 only. The solution was to disable "Active Sense" transmission:

1. System settings mode
2. "Cont-roller" section (row of three buttons at the bottom left)
3. "Tx" tab (left side).
4. "Active Sense Tx" to "Off".

My setup was the following:

V-Synth XT -> USB Hub -> MacBook Pro 5,5 -> Logic Pro 9.x (32-bit, on Snow Leopard).

i don't know why this is the solution or exactly what the problem is. Maybe Logic doesn't understand the Active Sense messaging and the note release is being lost due to it. Odd. If anyone has any solid explanation, i'm all eyes.
