Hello everyone,
I tried to update the VP-9000 from 1.05 to 1.12 by Zip Disk according to the manual and what I got on the screen was "Error!: Disk Read" as soon as I started the Update. After that every time I pressed the power button the screen remains blank, no display, no messages, nothing lit. When I try to load the 1.12 Update again by Zip Disk I get the same message "Error!: Disk Read". It is only when I try to Update by Zip Disk does the screen say "Error!: Disk Read"
Is there anyone in this forum who has an earlier Update version like 1.05 or 1.06, the VP-9000 was working before trying to update to 1.12, so maybe if I can get an 1.05 or 1.06 update I can get it back to the way it was when it was working. I checked the roland support site, both USA and UK and they only have the 1.12 Update, I googled for the earlier Update and found nothing. I've checked a few websites nothing either. Maybe someone in this forum has an older Update for the VP-9000. I thank everyone in advance for any help.

Re: VP-9000 Update
You will likely need to contact your nearest Roland service center, as the VP-9000 OS seems to have been partially erased.
Re: VP-9000 Update
Thank you for your reply Artemio, I was trying to avoid that. I guess there is no other way around it. Thanks again Artemio.
Re: VP-9000 Update
I finally did it. Instead of using the VP-9000 Zip Disk System Update which failed for me as I posted, I used the VP-9000 Standard MIDI Files Update Procedure. The best thing about this Procedure is the Roland website has an UpdateSMF application. This is an application for playing back Standard MIDI Files that can be used in place of a full-featured sequencer or librarian program.
I loaded the UpdateSMF application to my PC, hooked up my computer MIDI OUT cable to the MIDI IN of my VP-9000, then I ran the VP-9000 Standard MIDI Files Update Procedure. After about 20 minutes my VP-9000 was working again with the new 1.12 update.
Anyway, I posted this for anyone in a similar situation, never give up. Always keep experimenting. You never know what can happen. Things was starting to look pathetic. I thought I was going to have to take this babe to an authorized Roland Service Center and ask them if they accept firstborns.
