what is this tick plastic sheet on the screen?

Post by shiiiva »

hi
is somebody know exactly how the roland touch screen is built ?
there is the lcd, then should be the digitizer then, what is this tick plastic soft sheet , the one you touch? have you this also? it is not the thin film protection screen that you can take off. it looks like to be permanent and it is not completly attached to the screen. i don't think it is the digitizer itself. i have a new glass digitizer to place on the screen but i wonder if the digitizer of the v synth gt is may be not glass but soft plastic?
thanks for reply

The thick plastic is on the XT as well. I don't know the reasoning/requirement, however. Maybe it's for protection, or it's functional in the LCD's design. I'm thinking for protection since a) the LCD screen is not made of the durable Gorilla Glass like in iPhones, iPads, etc., and b) musician's may not necessarily be careful with abrasions, liquids, force, etc., especially during live events.
