V-Synth vs JP-8080
V-Synth vs JP-8080
I have a JP-8080. I like its sound and ease of programming, but I'm thinking of swapping it for V-Synth (not GT). I've heard that the subtractive part of V-Synth sounds pretty much the same as JP-80x0. Is that right? Does that include clicks and aliasing? Also, would I be loosing much in terms of immediate, hands-on sound programming?
Re: V-Synth vs JP-8080
I've owned both the V Synth and JP 8000. If I had to choose one I'd take the V.
From what I understand there is a JP 8000 inside the V among many other features. You could certainly recreate all of your old patches. I never noticed much on "clicks and aliasing" on either but I never really looked for it.
You will lose the quick hands-on programming you have with the 8080. There is a bit of touch screen menu diving to be done to access everything.
You could pretty much trade your 8080 for a V at no loss on ebay, the V goes cheap. I bought mine for $600 and sold it for $700. About the same story with my JP 8000.

Thanks for the info. I decided to do exactly what you said - buy V-Synth cheaply and see for myself whether I like it.
