user scales don't apply for MIDI out?

Post by flextone »

Hi,

I'm trying to play an external synth through the vsynth keyboard, with an alternative scale created in the "tune" tab. The problem is that the midi output still plays the normal equal temperament scale. Am I missing something? Oddly, the manual says "The selected scale applies to MIDI messages received from an
external MIDI device."

what if I want to play an external device with that scale? Can only the internal patch play a user scale?

Thanks.

Midi will alway send notes value (A1,B1...A7,B7 ...), not the scale or any detuning. The receiving instrument is always responsible for the assigment of those notes to the selected scale. You then have to "microtune" the scale on the receiving instrument. This is a MIDI "limitation".
