Error while updating V-Synth OS 1.13 to 2.00

Post by eclipse0119 »

Hi guys.
I was updating my V-Synth OS from 1.13 to 2.00 today.
After I follow the process, 2 files were put in the storage, disconnected the USB, then press [8] to execute the update...

Then it shows "Error file read error".

Can someone help me with this issue?

Thank you...

I just found out that the file "V-synth.rom" is OK, however, the other bigger file seems always broken..3.

I'm not sure whose problem it is...

If you do a factory reset you will have the default internal.prj back.
See page 98 of the owner manual.

Thank you for your reply.
However when I'm doing the reset, it shows "File not found !"
I think I've just erase everything...

I think the problem is on the "V-synthDiskMount.bin" file...

Anyway, I think I can fix this if I can upgrade my OS to 2.0 successfully.

however, it always shows "File Read Error" when installing the update files...

Hummm, I would suggest that you try downloading a fresh copy of the update from http://www.roland.com/support/article/i ... &p=V-SYNTH

Also make sure that you eject the v-synth drive (step #6 of the procedure)

Good luck!

Thank you.

Actually this is where I download the files.

Also, both V1.51 & 2.00 files can't work...

Looking at you photos it seems that it indeed starts the update but then stop shortly after. Most probable cause is corrupted files.

I would try downloading again, but this time from there:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/538/downloads

Then, make sure that "older" version of the 2 files are not showing on the v-synth drive, if so delete them before copying the new files.

Bad :(

Let try few more things. Here is how to enter "test mode". This is taken from the service manual.

Turn on the power while holding down the three buttons [-OCT] + [+OCT] + [8].
Continue holding down the buttons until you hear the beep.
The top screen of Test mode will appear, and the version number will be displayed in
the screen.

Frome there verify the version number but also do the memory test (3) and the usb test (22).
(By pressing [SHIFT] + [-> ] you can forcibly move to the next)

Also note that the manual specify that If you want to update only the program, copy only “V-Synth.rom”; if you want to update only the WAVE/PATCH data, copy “V-SynthDiskImage.bin”.

You don't need to do both at the same time.

Give me the result of those 2 tests, and the version number shown once this is done.

Forgot to tell you one little thing...

The only way to exit the test mode is to power off the v-synth.

Sir, truly appreciate for your attention to this matter !

So far I've done the memory test, all is good.

I'm trying to do the USB test.

(P.S I have also tried to update only OS or the WAVE/PATCH too, both cant do, due to read error.)

OK, this is good.
Don't loose too much time with USB test. It is ok if USB connect says OK.

If the version shown in test mode is 1.x then you may try this.

Go to http://www.rolandus.com/go/v-synth/Patches/

-Download any collection.
-rename it "internal.prj"
-copy it to the v-synth.
-Try to load it (load project)

Maybe this will work...

Sir, I think there is some problem.

Every time I load the project in halfway it will show :File Not Found".

I'm afraid it's the internal disk (or rom) failure.. (Is it possible?)

Not only I can't input the OS file nor PATCH/WAVE file

I also can't save project in it...

However, the MEMORY TEST seems fine...

Now I think my V-SYNTH has totally out of work...

1. Update failure
Both Ver.1.51 & Ver.2.0 can't do.
It will show "Error File can't read" when updating.
Both .rom (for OS) file & .bin (For patch/wave) can't work.

2. No patch & wave inside
Actually I don't remember what I've done, but all internal factory patch & wave is missing.
Also when I boot up the machine, It show's nothing can be load.

3.Can put patch & wave into it, but fail when reading them
So I manually put patch/wave files into it, I can see they are inside, but fail when reading them.
It will also show "File can't read" when loading them

4.can't save adjustment internal...
In this case I've created some patch and doing some system adjustment, but can't be save.

What can I do now...
If someone know any ROLAND Technical I would be so appreciate..
