X/y control of the Vsynth xt from external hardware

Post by kineticsoundprism »

Hi , has anyone tried controlling the vsynth xt's x/y and timetrip parameters from an external device without the need to switch into the xt's x/y pad screen ? wondering if it works ok ?

I think the following from the Roland Clan V-Synth FAQ gives some insight. From:
http://www.rolandclan.com/media/17/V-Synth%20FAQ.html

"6.3 How can I make the V-Synth respond to control messages from other gear?
Since the internal synthesis structure vastly differs from that of a general MIDI synth, the V-Synth has no MIDI controllers assigned to any parameters by default (except for aftertouch and modulation). In order to make it respond to control change messages, you need to go to patch Global section, Matrix Control tab, choose a control source and route it to some destination. For example, to be able to control cutoff of the first COSM block (if it is a filter, of course), set control source to CC74, destination to CSM1-PRM1 and depth to +50-60."
