If you're sure the project you're trying to open is compatible with the version of V-Synth Librarian you're using, one of the other causes for this problem that i've noticed is a missing wave folder. While the V-Synth itself doesn't seem to need the folder to load analog-only patches, the Librarian will fail to open these projects. Simply add a "wave" folder to the project and try again.
