Hi Artemio, your link connects to the Korg side, is this intentional?

Re: MC-808 movie
Any plans to dual purpose the MC-808 as a control surface also? Those motorized faders would be very nice to use in Cubase.
1. Use MC-808 to sequence / create tracks for Cubase.
2. Use MC-808 as control surface for the final mix.
Possible?

Re: MC-808 movie
Yes it should be possible since i believe the faders send out midi CC messages.

Re: MC-808 movie
I think these days you can use any synth as a control surface since most software has that neat "MIDI Learn" function. This means if the knobs/faders are in MIDI controller mode, you can use them to route to any parameter the software synth/DAW has to assign this way.
about the MC-808...
Hello Mike,
One of my first hardware boxes was the MC-505 back in 97-98 and after a long hiatus away from hardware, (been using my DAW exclusively for a while now), I'm actually interested a bit in the MC-808. Few questions: Are the stock drum kits (i.e. 808,909,etc..) on the MC-808 new higher quality samples than those featured on the MC-505? Is the synth engine as good as say the new Juno-G or Fantom X series? Are the pads an improvement over the MC-909 or are they the same?....that's it for now Thank you for your assistance!!

Re: MC-808 movie
Sup Dank
Yes the MC-808 has the classic TR-909 & TR-808 drum kits in it. The MC-808 features a new WX Chip which indeed gives the drum samples a new sound. I personally think the new MC-808 has a nice smakin punch to it for drums , especially sampled drums ! Way different than any of the Grooveboxs before it , and yes IT ROCKS OVER THE 505 , its a whole new engine.
The synth engine is really raw , thats the best way i can explain it. Guys looking for some raw rippin analog sounds , the new MC-808 has it. It has a whole new set of newely sampled waveforms and of course its on a new engine so it sounds great. Its all a matter of opinion though , some may think its too raw and rippin and not enough efx ( which of course can be tailored to any liking ) some may say its great the way it is without all the massive reverb n delays to mask the sound.
The pads are a HUGE improvement over the MC-909 , there bigger for 1 and have a bit of a better more sturdy feel.
Hope that helps !

Hello Mike,
Thank you for your prompt reply! I'm happy to hear that the MC-808 has a new drum sample sound and synth engine. I'm also delighted about the pads being bigger and sturdier. I'm really hoping that Roland has something special here in the MC-808. About the motorized faders: I quite liked using the 505's main mixer faders (for velocity, effects, panning, etc..), very intuitive, so I'm sure I'll like these new motorized faders, but for sound sculpting, in your opinion is it just a matter of getting use to using faders and a matrix system on the 808 rather than using sliders and knobs as on the 505/909? Does the MC-808 support SRX expansions like the MC-909?...Thanks again and I also want to mention that I always enjoy your product presentation videos, keep up the good work!

Re: MC-808 movie
Hey Dank
Its just a matter of getting used to the matrix style on the 808 but it is cool for alot of stuff. No the MC-808 does not support SRX expansion.
Thanks im glad you enjoy the videos.

Re: MC-808 movie
mike, thanks for all the good info you are providing to us, its really good to have someone like you on board.
I am a huge Groovebox fan ever since Roland started this craze in the early nineties and I have amassed an arsenal accordingly (303, 307, RS700, all Electribes). However, I never fell for the MC909 (and I really tried to), so when you say the 808 has got a raw rippin analog feel, does it mean the 808 sounds phatter then the 909?

Re: MC-808 movie
Like i said this is all a matter of opinion for alot of people. I do think that the new chip on the MC-808 does have abit more raw punch for sampled drums. It really sounds good.
BUT.....
Remember not everyone wants that particular sound for drums or for there synth sooooooo , some may say the 909 sounds better some may say the 808 , tomato potatoe etc etc
My personal opinion is , i like the 808 for sampled drums and i love the 909 for synth bass and pads. BOTH have outstanding qualities that make them unique.

Re: MC-808 movie
Hey Mike,
Just out of curiosity, will the MC-808 have audio tracks like the MV and the Fantom? Also, does it have a midi connection to add a keyboard and play your key parts, instead of on the pads? Thanks!
