MC-808 Sample Microphone Input

There isn't much info on this in the manual. Is this just a crummy Hi-Z mic input?

ok, apparently I can set it to either in the box.

I'm thinking if I used this w/ a mic I'd go out of my HD recorder so I could use the phantom power/condenser mic and the mic pre.
