MC-808 Librarian and JUNO-G patch importer

Post by dr_boehm »

Hi folks!

Just finished my MC-808 Librarian that can also import JUNO-G patches from (*.jgl) files. The Librarian is for Windows only, see the readme file in the attached zip archive. This is the first version, so be prepared for problems and error. I will try to fix them.

Much success,

Dirk.

Dirk, this sounds really interesting! I do not have a PC or an MC-808 to check this, but I wish you good luck. I'll stick this thread up!

Dirk, but can't the 808 itself send a bank patch dump to an external MIDI sequencer?

Hi Artemio,

the midi implementation only shows messages to request temp buffers of the 16 parts. There is no message listed that will force the mc-808 to dump a whole bank of patches (i really would like to know if there is any!!).

It can. But only in response to an incoming request.
Dump can not be initiated from 808.
Banks can not be requested. Only patches. At least according to published specs.

Dirk, you can overcome the limitation by implementing simple logic: sequentialy send program change and then request patch. Run over all program numbers and you're done with a bank.

Yes thats right, but Artemio is looking for something that he can use on his apple computer. So the best way, i think, will be to export a midi file for every single patch. He can then play the files with a sequencer on his mac and send the patch data to the mc-808.

By the way, since my time is very limited, if anyone wants the source code to add more features: youre welcome!!

Just send me a mail.

Hi Short Bus,

before starting the program set the mc-808 usb mode to midi.
Make shure that the mc-808 editor software works. After that start the librarian and set midi input and output to mc-808. Now select part #1 load a *.jgl file and send the patches to the mc-808.
