Hello Dirk,

Thanks for yoúr fast reply. Just before I read your message I was fooling around with a small DAW setup (Edirol PCRA_30 /MC808 /Laptop 2 midicables/2 usb cables) just to test and see if the librarian realy works and I must confess it BLEW ME AWAY this is WALHALLA WOW, WOW, WOW. I went throu the wonderfull XV-collection, the Fantom patches and others and it's SUPER!

Here's what I did - this may help other members:

Edirol pcrA-30 midi in -- cable --> midi out MC-808
MC-808 midi out -- cable --> midi in Edirol pcrA-30

Edirol pcrA-30 usb - cable connect to laptop
MC-808 usb - cable connect to laptop

On the MC-808:
system
shift 3 (RX MIDI) = receive

SYSTEM: RX MIDI
Remote KBD Sw: ON

SYSTEM: RX MIDI
Device ID : 17

SYSTEM: RX MIDI
RX Prog Change: ON

SYSTEM: RX MIDI
RX Prog Change: ON

SYSTEM: RX MIDI
RX Bank Select: ON

SYSTEM: RX MIDI
RX Exclusive: ON

On the MC808 Librarian
click 'Options'
Midi In : 2-EDIROL PCR-A MIDI IN
Midi Out: 2-EDIROL PCR-A MIDI OUT
Device ID: 17

Sending patches to MC808

Open the mc808 librarian
click 'Librarian'
load the converted patches like 'XV-Collection'
Now all patches appear in the list of the mc808 librarian

On the MC808 change Mode and choose: PATCH/SAMPLE
On the Librarian choose: '1' or any number you prefer

Doubleclick any patch you like and it will be send automatic to your MC808

Hi guys, I've got a mac and so can't use this librarian :( :(

But does anyone have any fantom or juno patches that they've already converted to 808 format they could send to me? Pretty please?

All the best,

Henry

Another user of the librarian...

Hi Dirk,

Just thought i'd let you know I have started using the librarian, I think its fantastic. Thanks very much for putting in the effort.

Ive just set up a mini pc (hidden under a table) with the 808 and a small LCD behind it, its reminding me of older roland samplers with the monitor output and full editing on the screen with the mouse, loving it with the librarian in the mix too...

Im thinking of building a hardware editor to sit next to the 808 to manipulate the same full feature set as in the roland software so I can be done with the PC for that aspect of it all. Ive build h/w midi controllers before but scratching my head looking at the messages spat out by the editor...

Has anyone had any luck with that sort of thing with the 808, even a mock up on a kenton control freak or similar???

Also, does anyone know how to convert from the .mcs pattern files to midi files??

Thanks again dirk.

Hi,

dont know much about the architecture of sonic cell.

The conversion of juno-g -> mc-808 was easy cause the both synths are very close in terms of synth engine. Nearly only the waveform no. was mapped.

So if you like the source code drop me a note and i will send it to you.

Bye, Dirk.
