MC 808 vs Mc 505

Post by JyGius »

Hi all...

I read the 808 manual but I still have a question...
Does the 808 have the same synthesis programming abilities of the 505?
I tried a 505 and it's awesome... I can build my own sounds. I want to know
if with the 808 I can do the same thing.
Is it possible to program sequences with the editor? Or can I only import SMF?

Many thanks.

Best regards.

Gius.

Hi,

you can not sequence on the editor software. Even midi files are only used as storage for patch settings.

I think that there are worlds between the synthesis features of the mc-505 and mc-808.

mc-808 is more a sampler without keyboard. You have literally hundreds of parameters per part (midi channel). Also you can use its internal sequencer to drive external equipment.

Some more info you will find in the mc-808-faq in the library section of this site.

Ciao, Dirk.

The 808 has more synthesis capabilities than the 505.

so I can't import a midi file that contains arrangements.... SMFs only for storing patch settings... Right?

Hi,

on the PC: yes. You can import midi file with sequence data into the mc-808 itself.
