MC-808 with Roland JP8000

So, i programmed a bassline in the 808, but i don't want to use any of the 808's "sounds". I want to use the JP8000 patch i made.

How would i do this?

I already hooked up the Midi in's/out's to each other and set up the MC-808 as the master. I made sure of this by turning on the arpeggiator on the JP8000 and latched it and when i increase/decrease the BPM of the 808, the arpeggiator slows/speeds up accordingly.

Thanks in advance!

Simply put the JP-8000 to the desired midi channel as your bass notes.

i can't find anywhere in the system settings of the MC-808 for midi channels or which part is on what midi channel.

manual doesn't help me either.

Nevermind. The parts are 1-16 by default.

The way I understand it, is that the parts are hardwired to the midi channel of the same name. Part two will transmit on channel two. I don't think you can change that. So You'd have to set your JP-8000 to receive on whichever channel that corresponds to the bass part of your pattern.

On page 70 of the manual it tells you to hold the shift button & the 13th keypad to get to "PART PARAM", then you should turn the data wheel until you get to the "SEQ OUT" parameter (pg. 77). You can set it to "INT" if you want the MC-808 to make the sounds, "EXT" for an external sound source like your JP-8000, or "Both" for both.
