True, Macs have system standard CoreAudio and CoreMIDI which are able to deal with multiple audio and multiple MIDI devices with no fuss. I can even make a virtual audio device that combines several physical interfaces and it'll show up as one multichannel device in all software. And I can use a single MIDI controller on multiple applications at the same time.
Windows just doesn't compare.
