12 input audio interface, no ADAT

Why is it so hard to find a choice of audio interfaces that aren't full of junk I dont need?

All I want is about 10-12 inputs, firewire or PCI connectivity. No ADAT, spdif might be handy, not fussed about MIDI really.

Is it too much to ask?

Only one device comes close and that's the Echo audiofire 12. Read that it can't do a stereo mixdown by itself, I guess Cubase could?

Any tips?
