Can't hear Cubase in XP Remote Desktop Session

Post by SaltyDawg »

I can't get audio from Cubase when I'm in a remote desktop session. I
can open a wave file and get audio, and I get audio from clicking on
stuff and things like that, but I get nothing from Cubase (on my
laptop speakers when controlling the desktop from my laptop).

My sound card is an M-Audio Delta 1010, and I also have a sound card
built into the motherboard.

I have tried setting each of them as the default in the control
panel, and as soon as I try to play anything in Cubase the default
audio device changes to some generic Microsoft device.

I have even ran a cable from my headphone amp (coming from the Delta
1010) to the mic input on the motherboard sound card. Still no go.
Same thing. Cubase changes the default audio device to some generic
Microsoft device.

Has anyone ever got audio from Cubase in a remote desktop session in
XP?

Once I get that sorted, I can try to get MIDI over LAN working and
use my existing WiFi to transmit the MIDI and audio to my laptop
speakers/headphone jack and my laptop MIDI controller. Then I can lay
in bed and have access to my studio.

Using Windows XP Pro with SP2 (both computers) and Cubase
SX3.whatever the latest update is. All of my gear is in my sig if you
wonder what I am using.

My gear list.
