Need Windows 7 Recording DAW help - beginner

To start with, played 25 years plus and been in studios. I have 6 Roland keyboards, Boss effects out the butt, Guitars, Mikes and so forth. Main axe is the Fantom X6 and do all my tunes from there, export to the cpu as resamples and so forth as wavs.
The issue is several. I cannot add vocals (minus using sampling time direct in or add guitars). No vocal correction (I need lots). Can't use EZ Drummer (best "live" drummer I ever heard and patterns are killer). Many other things to list.
I could go the hardware route and get say a Boss CD-1200 or whatever they are these days. I just can't use EZ drummer I think and don't think they record MIDI. No big deal as I don't edit much anyways. So here is exactly what I need :)
I want to record as professional as a sound as I can via outputs from my instruments. MIDI is not too big a concern as I rarely edit at all and most are live takes and if I screw up, I start over or copy/loop from a prior take. I just built a state of the art power PC (WIn 7)

So, What is the easiest computer recorder to use? I just want to hit record and play a track, then record overdubs over that track and sound professional.
Can I use EZ drummer?
Would I be better with a hardware recorder?
What Hardware recorder should I choose?
What interface to the computer do I need for simple 1/4 stereo in's?

I hate software and bought FL Studio 9 and EZ drummer and after 5 weeks, can't figure out how to do anything but drum patterns. I am a player and simply want to record, not figure out software. Thanks!

Hi,

This http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/ is a small, light weight 16 track audio recorder. But the basics is the same for any daw.

1. Start a new project
2. Creat a new track
3. Arm the track
4. Hit rec and play

For overdub

5. UnArm the previous track
6. Repeat steps 2-4

My projects usually starts of using the X6 Sequencer. Its allways on and just a rec button away ;) As the project developes I move it to Sonar.

Hope it helps
K

Im in th reverse of you im getting away from my pc. I personally like to record with a hardware recorder and export the sound data to sound forge and acid pro.
About your drum situation..I highly recomend Maschine there is gonn be a learnig curve with that as well but its the best way to do your drums if your a player. Im very very sorry friend but you simply must learn something if your gonna be using the pc. Now maschine is a little different it is basically like an mpc if you have any experience with those then maschine will come to you second nature. I see you got gear and alot of it...so im thinking you can finance maschine...to get you at fl studio a little bit faster click this link.

http://www.digitalmusicdoctor.com/

Im a hands on learner myself and i hate manuals to death, if you should get maschine there are videos on the Native Instruments homepage covering every aspect of using it.

$40: discounted license.

Its almost freeware, if You're not a professional.
And it comes with an absolutely free audio and midi sharing tool via ethernet (lan) !

Hardware choice would be a 2nd hand Roland VS-1680 ( around 4-500$).
16 tracks simultaneous playback/rec.

nord72, I'm using reaper at the moment but own sonar and cubase. I have never seen this Studio One before and at that price would buy it just to try it.

Where are you seeing this price? I can't find it on their website.

There IS a demo, ya know!

http://www.presonus.com/demo-studioone/

You have to submit a demo request, and they'll email the information to you so that you can download it. I got the email but decided against trying it out.

And there is a crossgrade as well, on their Presonus shop page.
