New with question about Roland SPD-SX
Hi all. I'm thinking of buying a SPD-SX for use just playing at the house. I'm wanting to be able to take parts of songs to loop and play along with. Like the middle part of Joe Walsh (Life's Been Good) and The Who's Baba O'Riley intro among others. In the air tonight, Duran Duran stuff etc. Not to be used playing live anywhere, just at home. Anyway, is it possible to sample these sounds off of cd's or whatever and play them in a loop to play along with on this unit? Thanks for your help.
Re: New with question about Roland SPD-SX
It sure is. You can sample live input and play loops or one hits. There are basic editing features but to really be efficient, you want to do the sample editing on a computer. I use an app like Adobe Audition to create, name and edit samples and then load into the SPDSX. I setup some kits as drum loops, some as drum hits, some as no audio midi controllers for other drum synths and leave others blank to do live sample “jamming”.
Lots of decent YouTube videos. It’s a real fun gadget.
