Using one GA FC footswitch with two amps

I have a pair of Roland Cube 80 GX amplifiers. Can I use one GA FC footswitch to control both amps if I wanted to run both amps together? My idea is as follows:
1) Get a Y cable that has one 1/4" TRS male plug on one end and two 1/4" TRS females on the other end
2) Get two cables that have 1/4" TRS males on both ends
3) Plug the Y cable's male TRS end into the footswitch
3) Plug each of the two 1/4" TRS cables into the two TRS female ends of the Y cable and run one cable to amp #1 and the other cable to amp #2.

Wouldn't this work? If not, why? Thanks!
