Can anyone do anything cool with a D beam?

Post by kcnotek »

Can someone explain to me how they would go about programming the D beam controller on their AX-7 to do pitch bends ("dive bombs"), resonance peak tweaks, or anything other than the arpeggiators? I usually play mine thru my Triton, but can MIDI it thru to my 5050. Do I need to assign a MIDI setting to the AX-7, the 5050, the Triton - what? I'm ready to dump the Triton for a Fantom, if that helps. I know the D beam could be a very cool expression tool, but I JUST CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT! Help, Roland company, customers and fans. Thanks.

I haven't been able to find any use for it, myself. Something about its range and sensitivity, or lack thereof, make it difficult to control. I'd rather just assign a parameter to a knob and twist away.

Fantom-s. Powerbook with mac OSX (10.3.9). some other stuff. www.andricseverance.com
