Boss BR900CD linked to synthesizer?

I currently use my bossbr900 to record myself singing/playing guitar, which until now has given me ok results for my songs. I want to fatten them up now and make them sound a lot more professional. I am wanting to add violins and other string instruments but unfortunately can not play them. is there a way of getting these sounds? maybe a synthesizer or something?
