cube rx + extension + motorized appliances

Post by hattbroz »

hello. i need to know something.
i live in asia and currently studying in a remote area where the house i rent dont actually have ceiling fans and each room is only given 1 wall socket.
so, my question is, is it ok to use the amp connected to an extension cable with another socket plugged into a fan ?
can i use both amp and fan together with the same extension ?
thanks

You should be okay. A small fan shouldn't draw too much electricity same with your amp(or depends on the amp). The house/circuit should have a breaker/fuse that would blow if there was a problem.

If you're really curious you could look at the back of amp and the fan to see power consumption labels.

As for motors, it's possible that it creates some noise in your line. Also, if you have electronic instrument connected to a different plug/wall socket you might get ground loop buzz.

Which reminds me, hopefully your extension has third prong for the ground. Here in the states, some people use adapters that remove the ground to plug in just two prong extensions - not a good idea for electronics.
