Input volume on M16DX

Hi

I use the M16DX with my Mac and RD700GX, VSynth and so on... however I find that the amont of volume I get when recording into Ableton adn Logic is somewhat lacking...

Am I missing something? I end up boosting the volume using the gain in Ableton and the waveform starts looking a bit square and fuzzy...

How can I get more volume into the M16DX? Is there a setting on the M16DX itself?
