Home Studio Recording - Need Opinions

Post by JazzXR »

I personally recorded the new single of my band using cubase, Fantom Xr and other usually stuff.
Here the song:

Please give me an opinion about sound, mixing, eq, etc...

That's quite impressive. In a home studio? I suppose it's not a typical home.

Nice arrangement, mix sounds really good, pardon the drums - maybe this is personal opinion, but they seem quite far back. Not so surprising as they are difficult to capture in a great studio, let alone your house. In contrast, the quieter parts where the stick is brought up in the mix, are really emotional and really ask for some powerful drums when they come back in.

Thanks for sharing(in every forum?), furthers my opinion that RC youtube videos are a continually a step above.

I'm really happy to hear this :) Thank you.
I recorded the instruments in my room :)

If could be useful, here some info about the song:
The drums are made with ezDrummer VST. (here the fault!!)
Guitar and voices are recorded using a Samson C03 microphone.
Bass and keyboards directly plugged into my E-MU 1616m.
Yamaha HS-50m for monitoring.
Izotope Ozone 3 for the "mastering" process.

PS:Sorry for my english :)
PPS:Sorry (again) if I posted the same link in various forum, but I did this with different purposes. Here for having opinions about the mix, there for opinions about keyboard sounds, and for opinions about the song itself.

Thank you again.

No problem, glad to hear some of the details behind the tune. Yeah, that explains some of the drums. They didn't sound all together bad, just really distant; maybe for the better if they are sequenced. Of course, I inferred you had live drummer - in your room!

Well, hope others will listen and give opinions. I am not greatest engineer but really aspiring as well.

Thanks again too.
