Boss Micro BR volume

Hi everyone, new member here.

I just bought a BOSS Micro BR and I'm a problem with it, and I'm trying to determine the source. The unit seems to be having trouble picking up my guitar. Even if I turn my guitar all the way up to 10 and the input volume to 100%, the volume bar still only says about 50%. So when I use the effects, they are all ether very weak or inaudible. The weird thing is, sometimes I can get it to work properly (all effects sound fine) for a few minutes, but if I move, it gets weaker again. I tried a different cord and had the same results. Also connected my bass and didn't have the problem.

I think the problem must lie with the guitar, which, to be honest I have not played for several years so I think it might just be deteriorating. Do you think it might be related to the input on the guitar?Or maybe the pickups are dead...

Finally hooked up the guitar to an amp (duh) and got the same results...so it's and issue with the instrument, not the Micro BR.
