No Arp being sent

I have a bit of a problem with the Sh-201 not playing the ARP parts apart from when the notes are played directly from the keyboard of the SH-201. I want to draw in chords in the piano roll and then have the SH-201 play back the ARP part but this is not working I just get the sustained chords. I have the SH-201 set up as a Virtual instrument in logic 8. Any help would be appreciated.
