Well, you can create percussive sounds, but it does not have a sequencer so you’d need something else to create actual drum patterns.

You might be able to do something creative with the "editable" arp using the software. If you are clever enough at programming sounds you also might be able to get 2 or 3 drum sounds out of a split. It's quite easy to program a bass sound in the lower octave area that sounds like a snare when you hit the key high above. Your options are quite limited though and unless you plan to program each drum sound and record them separately, I'd say it's probably not worth the trouble these days. I'd say with some creativity anything is possible though. Have fun!

All said here, but I suggest a dedicated drum machine, lke the Roland's DR series or a sampler Sp-404x, which will give you much more possibilities.
Have a look to the specs an demos of those (an other brands too)

it's hard to say about 505.... i had mc-303 and was not impressed... maybe 505 is better and it should have RPS but it's sait it's faulty sometimes.... if you need drums only, i'd go for DRs like DR 202.... or 660-670

edit: look @ sp404 also, you can't pitch samples with it but effects are dope....

If you have an iPod touch or iPhone there are loads of drum machine apps available.

Edit: oops! Just realised how old this thread is, apologies

Check out this video. It shows you how to make drum loops using LFOs.
