SH-201 Engine same as the JP's??

Post by DaniH »

Quick question, does the SH-201 have the same engine as the JP series?? I know it has the same as the V-Synth but someone insisted it had the same as the JP just because it has super-saws.

The sound engine is the same as the JP-8000 (filters, basic tone and pitch range of the oscillators), but a handful of the features have been tweaked and added. Some of the features on buried by weird button combinations, so you need to read the manual to access and remember them.

Things the SH-201 added off the top my head:

- Sine wave oscillator
- Identical oscillator choices for both OSC 1 & OSC 2
- More LFO wave forms and routings
- Reverb effect
- Overdrive effect
- 10 notes polyphony
- D-Beam controller
- USB MIDI & AUDIO
- External Audio In with individual filter (filter can also be modulated by LFOs)

There's a few features that are missing which the JP-8000 had:

- Cross modulation
- Individual filter for Noise wave
- Ribbon controller
- Phrase sequencer
- Performance Mode that let you swap patches around in a split set up
- More onboard patch storage
