New SH-201 but can't change sound

Hi!
So, I bought a SH-201, and was given a demo.
At home though, I can't seem to change the sound.
The Oscillator controls and mixing don't have any affect on the sound.

Have I got a fault or am I doing someting stupid?

Have you done a factory reset??

WARNING: FACTORY RESET WILL ERASE ALL USER PATCHES AND SETTINGS!

1. Turn off the SH-201.
2. While holding both PRESET and USER, turn on the keyboard. After a few seconds, WRITE and CANCEL will flash.
3. Press WRITE.
