how to get b these effects to work with cubase controlls???

Post by ekkerman »

hai there ,
here's a question from a dutch recent sonic cell user ;
is it possible to explain in simple terms the routing and logic behind the effects if i use the ss only as a midi module (midi in ) and want to control by cc 91,92,93, numbers in cubase vst these effects.
the basic guide keeps on refering to go some pages back or forward and then repeating some not quite logical terms and its driving me nuts!!!grrrrrrr
are you at all knowledgable with this machine and able to help me ???
it would be a blast .
thanx in advance ...

To make it clear, do you want to control the MFX processors with MIDI controllers 91, 92 and 93? If so, go to the effects edit mode on the SonicCell, then go to the MFX Control page. There you can assign the MIDI controllers as control "sources" routed to various control "destinations" (depending on the selected effect).

If you're talking about the synth engine itself, you need to make the same source/destination connection in the CTRL (Matrix Control) pages of the patch editor.

effects on ss

Post by ekkerman »

hi thanx but as you can see on page 246 (midi implimentation) these numbers are universal .
91 is reverb send and 92 is delay send 93 is chorus send and 94 is phaser send .
these numbers you can use at the start of the track to indicate the amount of effect per track you want and i see the digits change in part edit screen but it still isnt up to standart somehow....

I wonder if that only works with GM sounds (isn't that part of the GM specification).

Check to ensure that the Chorus and Reverb levels are in use (check out pages 135-136 in the manual).

effects work , finally!!!

off course i had several phone consultations with the roland product specialist nearest to me (which is belgium).
we had run all the possible causes of the no reverb problem and we kinda both discovered at the same time what was the problem .
because the main reverb amount was set to 50 and the gm2 reverb was chosen i never realised that this isnt very much to be audible so when i saw the light and cranked it up to 127 and changed it into srv hall it became apparant this was the problem.
.however there was another hurdle to be taken and that was that there was a sys ex command in a track of the file i was working with which set the reverb to the 50 % default position again and it took a bit of running tracks induvidually and monitor change in the reverb amount and when it changed from a 127 to 50 i knew where to look .
i erased the bit of sys ex data and was home free!
now i can set the reverb amount where it is suposed to be set and thats in the first bar of each track...
so my worries at least where the effects are concerned are over
